APPARATUS FOR TRIMMING EDGES OF METALLIC STRIPS Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: equipment for preparing edges of metallic strips for welding. SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes frame, working drive unit, changeable roller units with adjustable profile of their grooves. Each roller unit includes lower and upper vertical rollers with turnings and knurled flute forming bottom portion of groove; units for adjusting and loading members restricting said profiled grooves. Novelty is changeable roller unit whose rollers are provided with mutually opposite trimming members. Said roller unit includes spring and guiding pins passing through lower roller. One ends of said pins are placed in dead openings of upper roller mounted with possibility of axial motion, other extending lower ends of said pins are forced to end of adjusting nut by means of spring supported by upper roller. Said roller unit is mounted in floating holder joined by means of guides and screw stopper with lateral bearing unit and loaded relative to said bearing unit by power spring allowing to adjust loading effort. One of said lateral bearing units is in the form of carriage joined by means of lead screw with said frame, other bearing unit is mounted in frame. Trimming members are in the form of rectangular recesses mutually crossed by angle equal to 135 degrees, or they are in the form of through openings arranged in staggered fashion on working end of roller. EFFECT: simplified adjustment of profiled grooves of rollers, enhanced efficiency of edge trimming. 3 cl, 4 dwg
