FIELD: steelmaking. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to manufacturing preforms from high-grade steel, primarily strip, involving, if necessary, rolling and annealing of cast material, removal of scale, advantageously by leaching in aqueous media, and, if necessary, coiling of high-grade steel strip preforms. To achieve more flexibility in respect to steel marks being processed, material is thermally treated in separate parties and then annealed preferably in separate parties, after which material is cooled and scale is removed with no intermediate warehousing immediately after the last heat treatment operation.
