FIELD: mechanical engineering; engines. SUBSTANCE: ship propeller gas-turbine plant has main engine with turboblower and auxiliary engine designed for power supply which supplies current into ac mains through auxiliary generator. Excess combustion gases of main engine accumulating in exhaust gas space which are not required to drive turboblower are delivered through one quick-acting first shutoff member to gas turbine which sets synchronous machine into operation. Closing time of first shutoff member is <1s. To start turbine-generator unit, second quick-acting shutoff member and corresponding bypass valve with opening time <1s are closed and first shutoff member is opened. At starting with switch in OFF position, starting resistors are connected through switches to stator windings of synchronous machine so that machine is loaded and cannot be cranked. Speed of synchronous machine loaded at starting by all starting resistors at full load of gas turbine with nominal power rises to value corresponding to tolerable frequency range of static current converter. If power of gas turbine is not sufficient for this purpose, separate starting resistors can be switched off one by one. After acceleration through load resistor, static converter provides control and synchronization. EFFECT: enlarged operating capabilities and enhanced reliability. 10 cl, 2 dwg
