FIELD: medical engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves cooling the device to a temperature of 5-10 C. The working part is deformed so that distance between immersing legs increases due to reduced curvature of the working part. Arc-shaped member of an immersing leg positioned in metaphysis is not deformed. The short leg is set into a prepared opening in diaphyseal portion of long tubular bone and the long one into spongy bone of metaphysis. The device being heated, the working part takes predefined form, the immersing legs come closer to each other. The legs are reliably fixed in the bone and the bone fragments are tightly attached to one another. The device provides desired degree of compression.
