FIELD: production of fireproof insulator having maximal operation temperature higher than 900 C. SUBSTANCE: salt soluble inorganic fibers comprises: 54.68-78.07 mass % of SiO2, up to 42 mass % of CaO, up to 33 mass % of MgO and up to 3.97 mass % of Al2O3. Shrinkage of fibers after their sustaining within 24 h at 1000 C and after their sustaining within 24 h at 800 C is less than 3.5 %. Fireproof insulator is prepared of inorganic fibers having mentioned above composition. EFFECT: improved quality of desired product, improved efficiency of the method. 10 cl, 19 tbl, 5 dwg
