FIELD: leather industry. SUBSTANCE: method is realized on skin-drying installation in two steps by way of blowing on skins with heat carrier through vapor-permeable tapes, heat carrier temperature in the second drying step being by 10 to 30 C below that in the first step. Material of vapor-permeable tapes is screen cloth made of heat-resistant monothreads 0.1-0.3 mm in diameter and with coefficient of live cross-section 0.48 to 1.0. Two endless vapor-permeable tapes have longitudinal ledges on their outer surface and are installed on rolls for common unidirectional displacement to transfer skin being treated through drying chamber. Skin-transfer mechanism has supports set between rolls to interact with ledges. EFFECT: improved leather quality. 5 cl, 6 dwg , 1 tbl
