METHOD FOR POSITIONING OF DISK DRIVE CONVERTER Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: disk drives. SUBSTANCE: method for positioning of disk drive converter to specific track during given time interval involves splitting this interval into two deadbeat-response control intervals each of which is split into several intervals during which position of converter with respect to given track is measured and then either converter speed is measured or calculated from sequence of converter positions. During first time interval of each deadbeat- response control intervals method involves detection of control signal value using ideal deadbeat positioning of converter to given track, and output of this signal to power amplifier which actuates drive for radial movement of converter with respect to disk. During next intervals of each deadbeat-response interval, value of control signal correction, which is calculated with respect to difference between required and real speed, is added to value of control signal for deadbeat-response control and is output to power amplifier. Second correction signal can be added to value of control signal of deadbeat-response control for correction in case of large time constant of power amplifier.
