METHOD FOR DIAGNOSING SCOLIOSIS Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

Abstract RU 2114558 C1

FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves placing patient in an armchair assuming comfortable position. Arms are placed on arm rests, fingers and toes are relaxed and hang unconstrained. Piezo-accelerometric transducer is rigidly fixed on outer surface of nail phalanges of fingers and toes. Tremor of each extremity is measured in spectral bandwidth of 7.5-13.5 Hz and amplitude-frequency analysis is carried out. A1 and A2 integrals are calculated for each extremity in spectral bandwidth of 7.5-10.5 Hz and 10.5-13.5 Hz, respectively. Then each extremity A1/A2 ratios are calculated and the value of difference between the ratios obtained for the left and right upper extremities as well as for the left and right lower extremities and scoliosis of the 1-2 degree is diagnosed. The value of difference between the ratios for the upper extremities being 0.7-3.5 and for the lower extremities being 0.4-3.5, left-sided C-shaped lumbothoracic scoliosis is diagnosed. The value of difference between the ratios for the upper extremities being -(0.7-3.5) and for the lower extremities being -(0.4-3.5), right-sided C-shaped lumbothoracic scoliosis is diagnosed. The value of difference between the ratios for the upper extremities being 0.7-3.5 and for the lower extremities being +-( 0.1-0.4), left-sided C-shaped thoracic scoliosis is diagnosed. The value of difference between the ratios for the upper extremities being -(0.7-3.5) and for the lower extremities being +-( 0.1-0.4), right- sided C-shaped thoracic scoliosis is diagnosed. The value of difference between the ratios for the upper extremities being 0.5-1.2 and for the lower extremities being -(0.4- 1.0), S-shaped lumbothoracic scoliosis with upper curvature vortex of left-sided orientation is diagnosed. The value of difference between the ratios for the upper extremities being 0.5-1.2 and for the lower extremities being 0.4-1.0, S-shaped lumbothoracic scoliosis with upper curvature vortex of right-sided orientation is diagnosed. Time required for diagnosis to be set is 5-7 min. EFFECT: accelerated method of diagnosis; high degree of accuracy. 1 tbl
