FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: present invention describes economically advantageous method of preparing ethyl benzene. The claimed method comprises reacting benzene containing mixture with ethylene containing mixture (B) by alkylation to form polyethylene benzene in the resulting alkylation product. The latter product is subjected to at least one distillation-rectification to give distillate rich in di- and triethyl benzenes, and the resulting distillate is finally transalkylated with benzene to enrich it with ethyl benzene.
