FIELD: dyestuffs. SUBSTANCE: invention specifically relates to preparing color and black pigments and may be applied in production of ceramic and artistic dyes, for coloring automobile and other enamels, plastics, artificial leathers, building, and other materials. Method consists in using, as initial components, hydrated compounds or hydrated production waste and man-caused raw materials with total water content up to 50%. Mixture of pigment- forming starting materials, under action of mechanical activation, is ground, stirred, and interacts in activator for 1-5 min at power rate from 5 to 100 W/g and weight ratio of mixture being ground to grinding bodies 0.01 to 0.5. Pigments are then fired at 800-1200 C and ground to standard fineness. EFFECT: simplified technology and reduced pigment-firing temperature.
