FIELD: underwater navigation. SUBSTANCE: given method provides for measurement of time between interrogation signal and reply signals of responder beacons with known coordinates, computation of ranges to them, determination of position of submersible vehicle relative to responder beacons, determination of bearings o responder beacons located beyond assumed point of formation of water opening. After formation of water opening beams of propagation of reply signals are identified, coordinates of elementary volumes of water crossed by beams are found and position of water opening is determined by coordinates of collection of selected elementary volumes of water. EFFECT: improved accuracy of determination of configuration and coordinates of artificial water opening for emergency surfacing of submersible vehicle. 3 dwg
