FIELD: navigation.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to marine navigation and navigation by a driving cable, as well as to underwater navigation systems with hydroacoustic transponder beacons, and can be used for development of technical means of navigation support, communication and control for water surface and underwater objects of navigation in constrained conditions of navigation, mainly in Arctic and adjacent to them areas, in particular, on the Northern Sea Route (NSR). System comprises a driving cable laid under the sea, a coastal current generator and a ship equipment. Additionally along the cable route there are at least two hydroacoustic beacons with different frequencies of pulsed signals radiation synchronized through the same cable. Ship equipment is configured to determine position of an object along the cable with hyperbolic isolines corresponding to measured time differences of signals passing from a pair of hydroacoustic beacons, coordinates of which a known beforehand.

EFFECT: technical result achieved at implementation of the developed navigation system is improvement of accuracy and safety of navigation on the NSR at required navigation support, communication and control over ice-breaking and piloting of vessels and separate objects of navigation on the most complex and critical sections of the Route.
