FIELD: electronic engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves marking entity to be identified with characters and drawings made of set of diffraction gratings. Mentioned drawing is irradiated by light with set of definite wavelengths; diffracted beam is reflected at definite angle due to specially calculated orientation and density of diffraction grating grooves. Reflected pattern is shaped on projection plane placed at angle Φ to label with diffraction gratings. Diffraction maximums of higher order than first one may be used in shaping reflected pattern. Identifying label bears characters or drawings with set of diffraction gratings with grooves of different orientation and density; applied to mentioned drawings are light filters transmitting definite wavelengths at definite angles; diffracted beams are reflected at desired azimuth and radial angles due to specific orientation and density of diffraction grating grooves.
