FIELD: antenna engineering; discrete receiving arrays used, fir example, in acoustic engineering where they are built up of hydrophones and microphones. SUBSTANCE: method involves assembling groups of receiving antennas first one being set up at pitch of and next ones, at greater pitches; phase centers of all groups are aligned; time delays are introduced in signals arriving at receiving antennas. Novelty is that readings of signals coming from receiving groups are subjected to spatial Fourier transforms and results of these transforms for receiving groups arranged at pitch greater than half the wavelength are normalized with regard to maximal spectral reading in major lobes of directivity pattern. Results of Fourier transforms are multiplied and products are summed up. EFFECT: facilitated procedure. 3 dwg
