METHOD FOR MODIFICATION OF ETHYLENE (CO)POLYMERS Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: modification of (co)polymers. SUBSTANCE: method is carried out by grafting, the process takes place with the help of maleic anhydride in the presence of radical initiator. Initiator of peroxide type is used, the process is carried out in extruder step by step. Process includes: uninterrupted feeding of polymer which is affected by grafting together with maleic anhydride and radical initiator, the process takes place in nitrogen atmosphere in starter section on double-worm extruder, temperature in section is by 5-20 C more than melting point of polymer; uninterrupted feeding of hexane solution comprising antioxidant, the process takes place into definite area of extruder; withdrawal of hexane from extruder, the process is carried out with the help of rising stream; passage of melt of grafted polymer which takes place through head being disposed at the tail of extruder. Multilayer films which are prepared by usage of modified (co)polymers as binder are films of high grade quality. EFFECT: improved quality of product. 8 cl, 2 dwg, 4 tbl
