FIELD: production of polymers.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method for industrial production of functionalised polymers and a device for realizing a method for industrial production of functionalised polymers. Functionalised polymers are homologues of ethylene obtained at low and high pressure and polyolefin elastomers, copolymers of ethylene. According to this method, the polymer is subjected to chemical modification at temperature of 10–15 °C lower than the softening temperature of the polymer without using reactive gases when mixed with the monomer. Monomer used is unsaturated mono- and polycarboxylic acids, and their anhydrides, acrylate esters, vinyl-ether monomers, organosilicon compounds or a group of monomers. Polymer, monomer and organic peroxide are copolymerized by surface-initiated polymerisation in melt in a double-screw extruder. Chemical modification is carried out in amorphous phase of polymer. Device comprises solid-phase synthesis reactor for chemical modification of polymer and extruder for polymerisation in melt of functionalised polymer granules with a monomer (or a group of monomers) or a polymer. Reactor is equipped with a degassing unit for removal of non-polymerised monomers and decomposition products of peroxide compounds.
EFFECT: technical result is a cost-effective industrial method of modifying the surface of polymers in a solid-phase synthesis reactor with subsequent production of a functionalised (grafted) polymer in the melt.
