FIELD: petroleum processing. SUBSTANCE: oxidized bitumen is produced by oxidizing oil residues by air oxygen, which, according to invention, is blown at elevated temperature through oil residue containing 0.005-0.1 wt % of organic surfactant: (alkyldioxyethylene)methyldiethylammonium benzenesulfonate. Optimum amount of surfactant is 50 times lower than amount of commonly used organic additives. Oxidation time and oxygen consumption are reduced by 20%. Plasticity of bitumen is increased by 6-12% and penetration index is increased by 35-50% at the same softening temperature. Brittleness temperature is reduced by 3-8°C and oxidation temperature by 10°C. EFFECT: enhanced process efficiency and improved characteristics of product.
