FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves determining and recording lense peaks by means of ultrasonic examination of eye before operation being done. First of all, height of additional lens peaks is evaluated and their number is determined. Then anterior cortical layers of natural lens are pressed with instrument having scaled working surface in performing operation until the lens starts moving on ligament. The number of scale divisions immersed into the upper cortical layers being greater than 4 and additional lens peak height being less than half of main anterior lens peak and the number of additional lens peaks being less than 4, low lens density conclusion is to be drawn. The device has handle and working part provided with scale divisions drawn on its upper plane. Its working part is of 200 mcm thickness 100 mcm/mm width gradient and 100 mcm narrowing to working part end. Scale division distance is equal to 500 mcm.
