FIELD: metallurgy, particularly, corrosion-resistant stainless steels which are intended for using in medicine, in food industry, for using in pharmaceutical equipment and in instruments being in contact with food products, etc. SUBSTANCE: steel comprising carbon, silicium, manganese, chromium, nickel, copper, molybdenum and nitrogen additionally comprises tantalum. Said steel comprises, mas.%: carbon, 0.03-0.10; silicium, 0.01-0.80; manganese, 14-19; chromium, 14-17; nickel, 0.2-1.0; copper, 0.8-1.2; molybdenum, 0.5-1.5; nitrogen, 0.17-0.26; tantalum, 0.01-0.45; ferrum, the balance. Contents of molybdenum, chromium and magnesium are so that they fulfil given ratio: (% Cr+ % Mo)/% Mn=0.8-1.36, summary content of carbon and nitrogen being 0.21-0.36 %. Steel also may comprise 0.01-0.32 % of niobium, in this way content of carbon, niobium and tantalum are determined according to given ratio: % Nb=8(% C-0.03-%Ta/15).
