FIELD: nonferrous metallurgy; may be used in autogenous smelting of sulfide raw materials in Vanyukov furnaces. SUBSTANCE: method involves loading of charge into Vanyukov's furnace onto surface of melt, blowing of melt with oxygen-containing gas and smelting with formation of slag and effluent gases. They contain slag splashes, charge dust, oxygen and sulfur dioxide. Withdrawn from melting zone are liquid products of smelting and gases. Then, gases are cooled with aqueous solution to form pulp of return dust and gases cooled and cleaned from dust and slag splashes which together with dust are separated from aqueous solution. Heat is carried out with additional supply to effluent gases of oxygen up to its volumetric content of 6-9%. Separated from pulp of return dust are slag splashes by jigging with decantation of solid fraction whose settling rate in water amounts to 80-160 mm/s. Separated solid fraction is directed for smelting in charge composition. EFFECT: higher reliability of equipment; reduced expenses for separation of dust from circulating solution; increased recovery of valuable components of charge into products. 1 dwg, 1 tbl
