BOOM BARRIER AND METHOD OF ITS MANUFACTURE Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: construction engineering. SUBSTANCE: boom barrier is intended for collecting and keeping oil and petroleum products on surface of water currents and basins occurred in result of breakdowns in pipelines carrying oil or petroleum products and also due to leakage from tankers. Boom barrier incorporates floating body which is made up of waterproof and air-tight material, and ballast screen. Boom barrier is provided with body cooling unit. Cooling unit, body and ballast screen of boom barrier are made in the form of inflatable hoses made of thin-sheet steel and they are located successively one under other and are interconnected to each other by means of links. Connected to them are inlet pipe unions for air delivery to body hose and water delivery to ballast hose. Also provided is cooling hose which has perforated openings. Inflatable hoses are made of at least two layers of thin-sheet steel. Each layer is made of two sheets which are connected together by side and end joints. Method for manufacture of boom barrier includes formation of body and ballast screen and also additional creation of body cooling unit. Formation of cooling unit, body and ballast screen is carried out by placing even number of thin-wall steel sheets one upon other with subsequent connecting them together by resistance welding over outer perimeter and in lateral direction in two places which are differently distant from weld seams. Created by aforesaid procedure are three enclosed spaces. Welded to walls of each of them are inlet pipe connections. Punctured in wall of upper enclosed space are perforation openings. Aforesaid embodiment allows for simplification of boom barrier and ensures its fire resistance for highly reliable functioning of boom barrier. EFFECT: higher resistance. 4 cl, 4 dwg
