FIELD: sorbents. SUBSTANCE: invention aims at preparing sorbent with increased strength and high sorption and ion-exchange capacity to be applied for absorbing substances, e.g. heavy metals (nickel, etc.) from aqueous solutions and drinking water. To that aim, carbon-zeolite adsorbent is prepared through impregnation of zeolite with aqueous suspension of thermosetting monomer or polymer synthetic carbon materials at zeolite to material ratio 100: (5-25) followed by heat treatment at 650-700 C in carbon dioxide flow. EFFECT: improved strength and sorption capacity.
