FIELD: direction of vehicle motion through electric cable laid on (under) road surface. SUBSTANCE: two detecting coils shifted relative to each other and having an X-configuration with the axes positioned at an angle of 1 to 45 deg. relative to the road surface are installed on the vehicle. Each coil reads out both the radial and circular vectors of magnetic field, whose comparison provides for determination of the value of vehicle shift relative to the control cable. EFFECT: increased "field of vision" relative to cable, measurement of the lateral shift of vehicle proceeding from the vector of electromagnetic field direction; facilitated procedure. 9 cl, 4 dwg
