FIELD: metallurgy; methods for processing dump slags, mainly, electrometallurgical production of high-grade steels. SUBSTANCE: method includes processing the slags in cold state exclusively by mechanical methods including stage crushing of material to final fractions of 0-5 and 5-10 mm with intermediate separation before each stage of crushing of clean metal scrap, and also with intermediate vibration screening with sieving by fractions, from which larger fractions are fed to repeated crushing. Finally crushed slag is subjected to gravitational separation. The proposed method allows metal recovery degree from slag up to 95%. Produced metal including iron, nickel, chromium and other components are remelt into charge ingots weighing from 600 to 1350 kg and used for secondary metallurgical conversion.
