CARTRIDGE WITH NONLETHAL KILLING MEMBER Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: cartridges with nonlethal killing member mainly flexible member for large-caliber firearms (carabine, grenade launcher, etc). SUBSTANCE: cartridge has case with chamber, propellant charge, killing member from flexible material of stream-line form, mainly, spherical, fastened with case neck by means of connector which is destroyed in firing and piston installed between propellant charge and killing member. The latter has hollow on the side of piston coaxial to piston and with length larger than that of piston. Introduced between piston and killing member are brake and piston pressing piece in hollow of killing member. Brake and piston-pressing piece in hollow of killing member are made in the form of screw or circular projections on piston outer surface. Brake and catching piece of piston in cavity of killing member are made in the form of one or several projections on the inner surface of hollow of killing member, mainly, at its inlet. Made in piston ends are blind recesses coaxial to piston. Propellant charge is located in blind recess of piston directed to chamber. Piston is installed in chamber with interference fit. EFFECT: possible use of flexible killing member spherical in shape in cartridges of large caliber with exclusion of hazard inflicting injuries and mutilations by piston used in cartridge. 5 cl, 5 dwg
