FIELD: drawing and sizing production, namely application of underlubricant coat onto rod surface in flow line with drawing procedure. SUBSTANCE: method of applying underlubricant coat at comprises steps of sublimating resin such as rosin and depositing received drop-liquid suspension onto surface of cleaned rod. Apparatus for applying coat includes deposition chamber connected with vessel for sublimating resin provided with heater. When rod is drawn through deposition chamber suspension is deposited onto its surface forming strength undercoat for dry powder lubricant. Invention may be realized in several variants for use in different manufacturing conditions. Undercoat is characterized by high adhesion strength, viscosity and very small thickness of its layer. EFFECT: enlarged using range of effective and ecologically safe acid-free processes for descaling rods due to use of such method and apparatus.
