SHEARS TO CUT ROLLED STOCK Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: plastic metal working, cutting of rolled stock in rolling-mill shops of metallurgical works. SUBSTANCE: upper and lower supports carrying blades are mounted on frame of shears. Upper support carries clamp. Inclined surfaces of supports have steps. Height of steps is determined from condition and their width near base from condition , where H is to be cut. Presence of steps on supports provides for preliminary reduction of cut part as result of which height of cut section of rolled stock diminishes. Thanks to it cutting force decreases which ensures relative less shrinkage cavity in cutting zone and its widening that in its turn makes it possible to enhance quality of billets to be cut.
