FIELD: plastic metal working, namely cutting rolled stock, possibly in cogging units of metallurgical plants and billet shops of machine engineering enterprises. SUBSTANCE: rolled piece is clamped, then blank is separated by moving one cutter from its preliminary lateral displacement position to side of overlapping cutters by value "e" determined according to expression O≤e≤Δ. In the result of lowered bending plastic deformation moment of cutting process and due to intensifying action of maximum tangential stresses, metal underfill of blank ends is reduced, metal losses caused by shearing due to lowered length of portions with non-ready profile in ready rolled stock are decreased.
