FIELD: diamond-abrasive treatment of nonmetal friable materials. SUBSTANCE: method involves discrete process at all steps of infeed grinding with each part of general allowance divided into several fractional allowances. Modular tool special for each step is used in grinding. Tool has coaxial closed internal and external relatively displacing abrasive profiles (cup wheels) supported by flexible members. Stiffness of members is adjusted according to definite mechanism or law adapted to properties of structure (type of fracture) of material being treated. Tool may be used separately for grinding according to different face grinding schemes for comprehensive range of materials including binary structures. EFFECT: facilitated procedure, reduced amount of fringed layer in removing allowance for treated material. 3 cl, 10 dwg, 1 ex
