FIELD: depth peripheral grinding of materials having tendency to occurring flaws such as burnouts and cracking. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of mounting grinding wheel by angle α relative to rotation plane for creating axially shifted cutting layer; imparting rotation to grinding wheel and moving it relative to ground article. In order to perform rough, finish grinding and dwelling, grinding wheel is mounted onto elastic member with articulation joint. When end of grinding wheel runs against article at providing mutually opposite oscillation directions of axially shifted cutting layer of grinding wheel and lengthwise feed of article, rough grinding is performed. Finish grinding is realized when grinding wheel is arranged in position with angle α equal to zero and dwelling is realized when angle α is equal to (-α). In description of invention there is formula for calculating value of inclination angle α. EFFECT: improved removal of material and chipping due to applying upon grinding process normal oscillations for complete suppression of self-oscillations, enhanced quality and efficiency of grinding, lowered energy consumption for cutting and friction. 3 dwg, 1 ex
