FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: cast iron in converter is blown through by oxygen, lime and iron oxide material in the form of carbon-containing complex flux are added in amounts determined from condition to produce slag basicity 2.0 and FeO/SiO2 ratio 0.3 in the initial blowing phase. Calculated amounts of lime and flux are charged into converter after scrap is loaded before charging cast iron. Once fusion is steadily ignited, smelting is carried out with lower position of lance over the metal level in dead state. In the first half of blowing, lime should be added in two portions to achieve predetermined final basicity of slag. EFFECT: intensified slag formation, prevented metallization of lances and converter mouth, spared material resource, and increased productivity. 2 cl
