FIELD: ferrous metallurgy; conversion of cast iron in oxygen converter. SUBSTANCE: proposed method consists in charging scrap, pouring cast iron, introducing lime and manganese-containing materials, blowing metal with oxygen to preset content of carbon at position of lance of 10-12 passes from level of still bath. Manganese-containing materials and lime are added before pouring cast iron into converter. Oxygen lancing is effected at flow rate of 3.0 - 4.0 cum/m/min. t before expiration of 35 to 40% of total duration of blowing followed by reduction by 22-42% of initial intensity of blowing. Lime and manganese-containing materials are added at ratio of 1:(0.1-0.4). During final period, blowing is performed at initial intensity to content of carbon in metal of 0.09-0.23%. EFFECT: increased residual content of manganese in metal upon completion of blowing; increased steel output. 1 tbl
