FIELD: mechanical engineering; plants converting chemical energy of liquid or gaseous fuel into mechanical energy in transport. SUBSTANCE: engine has housing with ring working chamber accommodating six pistons secured in pairs on three disks and dividing ring chamber into six interpiston chambers. Two driving pins are fitted in each of three twin cranks secured on disk hubs. Pins of each crank can be brought into engagement in turn with slots of thirteen-slot link. Engagement of one pin of crank with one slot of link is accompanied by disengagement of opposite pin of the same crank with other slot of link to provide engagement of only one pin of each crank with slots of link. Design of engine without electric ignition system requires nontraditional starting method, for instance, pyrotechnic starting, at which beginning of piston movement, compression of working mixture and its primary ignition is provided by not gas from operated pyrotechnic charge. Engine of proposed design provides reduction of toxicity of exhaust gases owing to increased turbulization and multiple-fold increase in ignition power, stable operation of engine at compression ratio of 8-10 on many kinds of motor fuels, including low-octane fuels, reduction of mass and overall dimensions of engine, reduction of vibration and noise level, simplified design of engine, increased stability and cut down time required for starting. EFFECT: enlarged operating capabilities. 5 cl, 10 dwg
