FIELD: metallurgy, particularly production of elongated pump rods for oil wells working with use of rod pumps. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of preparing blanks of steels with different chemical content for body and heads of rod; performing separate heat treatment and working of blanks; forming on blank profile of head and knurling thread on it; then welding-on heads to ends of rod body by friction welding.
