SUBSTANCE: invention is related to the field of repair of products from ferrous metals after long-term operation, namely to engineering and technology of restorative repair of pump rods (PR), which are widely used on oil production. Repair of PR consists in the following operations: cleaning from asphalt resin waxy deposits, radiation, visual and instrument control, cutting of PR heads and sections with defects, plastic deformation with PR heating to rolling temperature in mode of high thermomechanical processing with provision of complete or partial healing of defects, extrusion of new heads, normalisation or high tempering, hot dressing, cooling, bead-blasting processing of rod body and mechanical processing of PR head, including thread cutting.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to increase volume of repaired rods and to increase their strength characteristics - yield point.
