FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: prior to surfacing, grooves are made on surfaces to be strengthened to form buffer zones. Grooves are cut in direction perpendicular to direction of movement of friction pair. Pitch and profile are set to meet requirements to needed buffer layer. Depth of grooves is set according to relationship: h ≥ 2Δ where h is depth of groove, mm; Δ is depth of penetration of current at induction heating, mm. Grooves are made rectangular, triangular or oval with increase in contact surface between fusion layer and base metal depending on conditions of operation of buffer zone. EFFECT: increased wear resistance of parts and units operating at high impact loads, enhanced quality of surfacing owing to increased strength of adhesion of applied layer and base metal. 4 cl, 5 dwg
