METHOD OF AND DEVICE FOR MAKING HOLES FOR ANTISKID STUDS IN TREAD OF VEHICLE PNEUMATIC TYRE CASING Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: tyre industry. SUBSTANCE: in proposed method holes are made by cutting out rubber bars using hollow drill and taking them out of tyre tread. To tear off rubber bar, it is clamped, wedged and twisted in tool and then is pushed out in direction of drilling. Device for implementing the method has drive 4, drill 10 in form of tube with cross section in form of ring which is provided with cutting edges 11 on end section and shank 12. Holder of drill 10 is made in form of cylindrical holder 6 carrying spindle 8 with drill. Device has additionally spring-loaded rod 13 for clamping and pushing out rubber bar from tube of drill 10 which is installed coaxially inside spindle 8 and tube of drill 10 for longitudinal displacement. Device has drilling depth limiter 15, clamping and pushing out rod relative-to-drill position regulator 16 and stop 17 of clamping and pushing out rod 13 and mechanism 18 providing vertical displacement of drive 4 and holder 6 with spindle 8 and drill 10. Drive 4 is made in form of electric motor coupled with spindle 8 through fixed friction reduction gear 9 and installed, together with drilling and vertical displacement mechanism, on bracket on support 1. EFFECT: improved quality of holes for antiskid studs, without using hand tools and thus increasing productivity of labour and cutting down labour input. 2 cl, 1 dwg
