FIELD: ceramic industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of ceramic pigments and can be used in overglaze and underglaze paints for ceramic construction and porcelain articles. Method of producing ceramic pigment based on aluminium-magnesium spinel is performed by means of thorough mixing of charge containing, wt%: aluminium oxide Al2O3 (39.0-70.0), powdered aluminium Al (7.0-11.0), magnesium oxide MgO (14.0-30.0), magnesium nitrate (0-30.7), a colouring agent (0-25.0), boron B (0.5-4.0), thermal synthesis in self-sustained mode of layered locally initiated combustion. As dye oxides of transition metals or their thermally degradable salts - nitrates, carbonates, sulphates, acetates, oxalates.are used. Method ensures production of ceramic pigments of higher quality and wide colour palette due to increased completeness of reaction components.

EFFECT: technical effect consists in reduction of power consumption, since using additives of boron and synthesis in combustion mode layer allow to produce porous easily ground product.
