FIELD: textile industry. SUBSTANCE: method involves supplying main air flow to leading end of straight channel in rocking reed along straight channel and supplying additional air flows along straight channel in equally spaced relation at an angle to filling thread laying direction, which is oriented to open side of straight channel; directing additional air flows to reed rocking axis to obtain vertical force component acting upon filling thread in direction common with that of gravitational force so that filling thread is normally laid at straight channel bottom. Method allows filling to be prevented from escaping from reed channel. EFFECT: increased efficiency by maintaining constant thread tension and enhanced reliability in operation. 9 cl, 12 dwg
