FIELD: textile engineering. SUBSTANCE: loom has reed, filling thread guiding mechanism equipped with guiding channel and connected to reed. Filling thread guiding mechanism is positioned for displacement between laying position and beating up position. Loom is further provided with immovable filling thread laying mechanism having at least one nozzle for directing filling thread into guiding channel and thread catcher, device for forming fabric edge from edge threads, which frictionally clamp filling thread upon termination of filling thread laying process and direct filling thread from laying site to beating up site, with clamping effect being maintained. Thread catcher has immovable plate and movable thread. Starting of thread catcher is coordinated with displacement of reed. Movable and immovable plates are brought into engagement for clamping and cutting filling thread, when reed is in its rear position outside fabric edge.
