FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves determining the angle relative to rest surface line on the radiogram. Tangential lines to articulation facets of plantar outline of the first metatarsal bone head are continued until they reach the rest surface line. Acute angles formed in this way are measured and the first metatarsal bone rotation angle is determined. The formed angles being open in opposite directions, the first metatarsal bone rotation angle is equal to half difference of the acute angle magnitudes as the case of the I degree, initial rotation. One tangential line to articulation facets of plantar outline of the first metatarsal bone head running in parallel to the rest surface line, the rotation angle is equal to an angle formed by another tangential line and the rest surface line as the case of the II degree, boundary rotation. The acute angles are open in the same direction, the first metatarsal bone rotation angle is equal to half of difference of the acute angle magnitudes as the case of the III degree, maximum rotation.
