METHOD OF AND DEVICE FOR PACKING AND TYING METAL ARTICLES Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: metallurgy; sheet rolling department facilities. SUBSTANCE: method comes to displacement of articles, and forming, weighing and tying the pack. When displacing the articles and forming the pack, articles ate orientated. Pack is formed from separate articles successively lifted from mechanism displacing the articles to electromagnet unit. Pack of articles, thus formed, is lowered from electromagnet unit onto weighing device. Prior to tying the pack, longitudinal faces are made on upper and lower edges of article pack. Device has displacement mechanism, article stop, pack forming mechanism, weighing device and pack tie machine. Article and pack orientation mechanism consists of groups of pushers moved in synchronism by hydraulic cylinders. Pack forming mechanism has electromagnet unit arranged over displacement mechanism, system to provide lifting of separate articles to magnets and lowering formed pack onto weighing device. Face shaper is installed additionally before tying machine. Article lifting system is made in form of frame on which hydraulic cylinders are arranged to drive article lifting units interconnected by longitudinal tie-rods. Article lifting unit is made in form of bell crank one arm of which is connected with link and the other, through vertical tie-rod, with article lifting platform. Face shaper is made in form of carriages moved crosswise by hydraulic cylinders and accommodating U-shaped face shaping rollers installed for displacement in vertical plane over pack height, pressed to side surfaces of pack and engaging with upper and lower faces of the latter. EFFECT: enhanced quality and reliability of packing, enlarged operating capabilities, reduced overall dimensions of mechanisms. 4 cl, 5 dwg
