FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: invention discloses method of effective separation of pentafluoroethane (HFC-125) used as cooling agent, rocket fuel from mixture of HFC and chloropentafluoroethane (CFC-115). The method comprises subjecting mixture of HFC-125 and CFC-115 to extractive distillation so as to obtain concentrated HFC- 125. Methanol, ethanol, butanol, propyl alcohol, pentafluoropropanol, tetrafluoropropanol or acetone are used as extracting agent to produce CFC-115 as distillation product, and mixture of HFC-125 and extracting agent are formed as residual product. The extracting agent is then separated from HFC-125 by distillation of mixture and is used for second time in extractive distillation. The method is simple to be put into practice.
