FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: present invention describes method of selective hydrogenation of dinitrile compound of general formula NC-(CH2)n-CN, wherein n is 1-6 in the presence of catalyst containing 8 group metal such as nickel and zeolite having pore size from 0.3 to 0.7 nm, preferably 0.3-0.5 nm. Zeolite has preferably structure selected from the following types of structures: ABW, AEI, AFT, ANA, ATN, ATV, ATT, AWW, BIK, CAS, CHA, EAB, EDT, ERI, CIS, JBW, KFI, LEV, LTA, MER, NAT, PHI, PHO, VOG. Catalyst has generally internal surface area of at least 10 sq.m/g, more particularly 20 sq.m/g, whereas external catalyst surface generally consists of inert particles. Hydrogenation is carried out by using hydrogen at temperature of 70 to 200 C and partial pressure of 3-10 MPa. Process does not need adding ammonia or other bases and makes it possible to prepare completely or partially hydrogenated products by varying reaction conditions. EFFECT: more efficient selective hydrogenation method. 7 cl, 1 scheme, 10 ex, 3 tbl
