FIELD: leather industry. SUBSTANCE: more specifically, invention is intended to manufacture leather from skins of fish with high content of natural fat, for example, carp. Skins are soaked, fleshed, treated with lime, pickled, and tanned. Further, skins are defatted, dyed, dubbed, and finished. According to invention, after lime treatment, skins are subjected to double-step de-ashing: first, in ammonium sulfate at 15- 25 C for 40-60 min, and then with addition of softening agent at 30 C for 1-2 h. Tanning is carried out using combination of vegetable and synthetic tanners plus aluminum compounds. Dying is performed with leather dyes in combination with textile dyes, and dubbing with hydrophobizing agent-containing fat mixture. EFFECT: improved leather quality.
