METHOD OF ESTIMATING STATE OF HYPOPHYSIAL-HYPOCORTICOID AND INSULAR SYSTEMS IN HUMANS Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

Abstract RU 2123186 C1

FIELD: endocrinology, therapy, surgery. SUBSTANCE: method increases accuracy of estimating state of hypophysial-hypocorticoid system from concentrations of adrenocorticotropin, somatotropin, aldosterone, and hydrocortisone; and state of insular apparatus of pancreas from concentrations of immunoreactive insulin in human blood plasma as function of sex, age, Kaetle weight-height index and taking into consideration data of correlation analysis of relations between estimated anthropometric and hormonal indexes. State of the two systems is estimated by means of radioimmunologic examination of blood plasma as function of sex, age (1st group, 20-24 years; 2nd group, 25-29 years; 3rd group, 30-34 years), Kaetle index, and presence of correlation between examined indexes. In the 1st group women, concentration of adrenocorticotropin was found to be 56.17 ± 6.60 pg/ml, somatotropin 4.29 ± 0.71 mg/ml, aldosterone 136.06 ± 8.86 pg/ml, hydrocortisone 500.46 ± 21.39 nmol/l, immunoreactive insulin 19.19 ± 1.43 microunits/ml, Kaetle index 390.51 ± 12.02 g/cm; in the 2nd group women, respectively, 44.06 ± 7.29, 2.71 ± 0.44, 128.54 ± 10.33, 457.06 ± 15.97, 19.93 ± 1.53, 408.90 ± 12.06; in the 3rd group women, respectively, 54.28 ± 8.72, 2.87 ± 0.54, 113.50 ± 14.63; 449.28 ± 22.52, 20.10 ± 2.48, 405.00 ± 13.71. Respectively in men, 1st group: 57.92 ± 7.07, 2.94 ± 0.55, 108.98 ± 5.97, 627.15 ± 13.93, 14.90 ± 1/16, 411.02 ± 6.28; 2nd group: 52.19 ± 8.34, 1.35 ± 0.21, 114.09 ± 5.43, 620.18 ± 17.97, 18.63 ± 1.70, 430.37 ± 6.64; 3rd group: 46.41 ± 8.87, 1.18 ± 0.16, 118.44 ± 5.84, 579.27 ± 14.74, 17.69 ± 1.29, 431.53 ± 8.27. In addition, correlations between hormonal and anthropometric indexes are found as function of sex and age. Thus, in 20-24 years old women, correlated are: somatotropin-hydrocortisone, aldosterone-age, age-weight, age- height, age-Kaetle index, weight-Kaetle index, adrenocorticotropin- Kaetle index; in 25-29 years old women: age-weight, weight-height, weight-Kaetle index; in 3-34 years old women: weight-height, weight- Kaetle index; in 20-24 years old men: age-aldosterone, aldosterone- height, adrenocorticotropin-immunoreactive insulin (with opposite sign), Kaetle index-weight, weight-height, height-Kaetle index, height- adrenocorticotropin, somatotropin-immunoreactive insulin; in 25-29 years old men: Kaetle index-weight, weight-height, height-Kaetle index, adrenocorticotropin- aldosterone (with opposite sign), aldosterone-somatotropin; in 30-34 years old men: age-aldosterone, hydrocortisone-immunoreactive insulin (with opposite sign), aldosterone-Kaetle index, Kaetle index-height, Kaetle index-weight, weight-height, weight-aldosterone, weight-hydrocortisone, hydrocortisone-height, Kaetle index-somatotropin, Kaetle index- hydrocortisone. All found relations are normal. When negative feedback between examined pairs is present, shifts of index magnitudes relative to corresponding average magnitudes should be oppositely directed. When positive feedback is present, increase in magnitude of one of the conjugated indexes As compared to corresponding average magnitude should be accompanied by increase in magnitude of the other index in the same pair. Other deviations from norm are considered as indicators of pathologic process. EFFECT: increased accuracy of estimation. 2 tbl
