FIELD: nuclear power engineering; decommissioning fast reactors. SUBSTANCE: sodium coolant is decontaminated directly in reactor circuit from all radioactive nuclides and inactive impurities to below-standard levels. Then sodium is removed from circuit to inert-atmosphere tanks and upon certain time it is used as coolant for nuclear power plants or other industrial purposes. EFFECT: reduced amount of wastes, provision for reuse of sodium upon expiration of its life, improved radiation safety, reduced power requirement. 5 cl
