FIELD: machining of metals during turning, drilling out, threading, cutting, milling, drilling, extending, deep drawing of ferrous and nonferrous metals. SUBSTANCE: claimed composition comprises, wt.%: product of reaction of sodium hydroxide with fatty acids in monoisononyl phenols oxyethylated with 6 and 10 moles of ethylene oxide, 0.2-13.0; triethanol amine, 0.3-15.0; calcined soda, 0.05-2.5; trisodium phosphate, 0.05-2.5; bactericidal additive, 0.1-2.5; antifoam addition agent, 0.001-1.0; and water, the balance. As compared with well known agent, the claimed agent is advantageous in that it has tribotechnical properties, especially with respect to carrying capacity (by 1.7 or more times; tools have higher wear resistance by 20-40%; anticorrosion properties are improved and biological stability is increased. All these properties make it possible to prolong service life of cutting liquid by 2 times. EFFECT: improved properties of the cutting liquid. 2 tbl
