FIELD: railway transport; electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: method includes measurement of current passing through supports from AC voltage generator connected between rail and group grounding cable and subsequent calculation of insulation resistance of every support by value of relation of voltage across cable to value of measured support current. Current measurement in support is performed by recording of magnetic field created by this current with subsequent determination of current value by calibration dependences "magnetic field intensity - current".
