FIELD: fire-extinguishing system used, for instance, in ship's engine room. SUBSTANCE: fire-extinguishing system has main nozzles positioned above and/or laterally of room to be protected for total suppression of fire, and/or local nozzles mounted around potentially dangerous objects in limited room, for instance, machines for suppressing fire in them. Some nozzles are of low pressure type and provided with blades. Water is sprayed from these nozzles under pressure of 2-12 bar in the form of spray beams containing drops of different size. Due to rotational motion developed by blades, drops are distributed in spray beam so that frequency of large-diameter drops in peripheral part of spray beam exceeds that in inner part of spray beam, and, consequently, frequency of small-diameter drops in inner part of spray beam exceeds that in peripheral part of spray beam. EFFECT: increased efficiency in fire extinguishing by spray beams without usage of excessive quantities of water. 10 cl, 6 dwg
